2. 위와 관련, KAIST 핵심가치인 "창의와 도전(Creativity and Challenge)"에 부합하는 탁월한 창의력을 발휘하거나 도전정신이 뛰어나다고 인정되는 학생을 선정하는 2016년 KAIST 창의도전상을 아래와 같이 안내하오니 추천하여주시기 바랍니다.
= 아 래 =
가. 포상제정 취지
- 2014년 KAIST 핵심가치 "창의와 도전(Creativity and Challenge)"을 제정하여 공포함.
- 학생들의 창의성을 고취하고 실패를 두려워하지 않고 도전하는 문화를조성하여 KAIST만의 또다른 성공 스토리를 만들어 나가도록 하기 위함.
- KAIST 핵심가치인 창의, 도전에 부합하는 탁월한 창의력을 발휘하거나도전정신이 뛰어나다고 인정되는 자에게 KAIST 창의도전상을 제정하여 수여함.
나. 지원자격 및 대상
- 재학중 탁월한 창의력을 발휘하거나 도전정신이 뛰어나다고 인정되는 자로, 학과장 또는 학처장 추천을 받은자(추천서(첨부) 및 증빙자료 제출)
- 도전상의 경우 단순히 논문의 양적, 질적 업적보다는 논문이나 수상 등의 실적 내용에 도전과정 등에 대한 기술(도전성)이 평가시 반영될 수 있음.
다. 시상 분야 및 내용
- KAIST 창의상: 학부 1명(또는 1팀), 대학원 1명(또는 1팀)
- KAIST 도전상: 학부 1명(또는 1팀), 대학원 1명(또는 1팀)
※ 적격자가 없을 경우 선정하지 않을 수 있음
라. 추천 방법(각 부문 중복 추천 불가)
- 학부/대학원 과정 개설학과: 총 4명(팀) 이내 추천가능
학부 : 창의상, 도전상 각 1명(팀) 이내
대학원 : 창의상, 도전상 각 1명(팀) 이내
- 대학원 과정만 개설학과: 총 2명(팀) 이내 추천가능
대학원 : 창의상, 도전상 각 1명(팀) 이내
마. 신청 기한
- 2016년 1월 6일(수)까지 학생지원팀으로 제출(협조문 및 제출서류)
바. 평가방법
- KAIST 창의상: 창의성(10점), 완성도(10점), 기여도(10점)으로 평가하며, 3개 항목 평가점수(총점 30점)의 합계로 수상자 선정
- KAIST 도전상: 도전성(20점), 공감도(5점), 기여도(5점)으로 평가하며, 3개 항목 평가점수(총점 30점)의 합계로 수상자 선정
사. 평가(선정) 절차
- 학과장 또는 학처장 추천(추천서 및 증빙자료 제출) → 학생상벌위원회 심의·선정
아. 시상내용 및 시상재원
- 시상내용: 총장 명의 상장 및 상패 수여
- 시상재원: (본원)학사행정지원 - 학생지원팀 - (운영)행사비(총괄)
자. 수여시기
- 2016년 개교기념식 행사시(2016년 2월 16일(화) 예정) 수여

2. In relation with the above, we are accepting nominations for the KAIST Creativity & Challenge Awards which were established to honor students who have displayed outstanding creativity or demonstrated a spirit of challenge in accordance with KAIST’s core values of creativity and challenge.
= Details =
A. Purpose of the Awards Program
- KAIST’s core values, "Creativity and Challenge” were established and officially promulgated in 2014.
- To encourage students to create KAIST’s own success stories by developing a culture in which students are not afraid of challenges
- To present the KAIST Creativity & Challenge Awards to students who have displayed outstanding creativity or demonstrated the spirit of challenge in accordance with KAIST’s core values of creativity and challenge”
B. Eligibility and Applicability
- Students who are recommended by department chair or dean among those who have been recognized for their outstanding creativity or the spirit of challenge while in school. (Required to submit the attached Recommendation Form and supporting data)
- As for the Challenge Awards, detailed account of how a candidate overcame obstacles and challenges (demonstrating the spirit of challenge) may be given priority consideration during the review.
C. Awards Details
- KAIST Creativity Awards: 1 undergraduate student (or team), 1 graduate student (or team)
- KAIST Challenge Awards: 1 undergraduate student (or team), 1 graduate student (or team)
※ If the jury does not find suitable candidates, the prizes will not be awarded.
D. How to Recommend by Category (Overlapping recommendation is not allowed)
- Departments offering undergraduate/graduate programs: Allowed to recommend up to four persons (teams)
Undergraduate program: Up to one person (team) each in the Creativity Awards and Challenge Awards
Graduate program: Up to one person (team) each in the Creativity Awards and Challenge Awards
- Departments offering graduate program only: Allowed to recommend up to two persons (teams)

E. Recommendation
Deadline
- Please submit recommendations by Wednesday, January 6, 2016, to the Student Affairs Team. (Coordination sheet and required documents)
F. How to Evaluate
- KAIST Creativity
Awards: The judges will evaluate candidates based on the following three
criteria: creativity (10 points), completeness (10 points) and contribution (10
points). The candidate with most points will be selected as the winner.
- KAIST Challenge Awards:
The judges will evaluate candidates based on the following three criteria:
spirit of challenge (20 points), sympathy (5points) and contribution (5points).
The candidate with most points will be selected as the winner.
G. Evaluation (Selection)
Process
- Recommendation by Department Chair or Dean (Submission of Recommendation Form and supporting data) → Student Reward & Punishment Committee Review/Selection
H. Awards Details and Funding
- Certificates of merit and plaque issued by the president are presented to winners.
