We are seeking to appoint a postdoctoral neuroscientist to the King's College London funded by the Wellcome Trust. The position is offered within the UK Dementia Research Institute (DRI), this is a national consortium focused on cutting-edge dementia research. The primary research interest of the group involves understanding the pathophysiology of RNA-binding proteins in neurodegenerative diseases, with a particular focus on Alzheimer's disease (AD). We use a combination of electrophysiological assays, molecular biology techniques and cutting-edge imaging approaches to determine the consequences of disease pathology on synaptic function. We are particularly interested in examining how synaptic function is modified by aberrant process of RNA-binding proteins and other molecular candidates of pathophysiology. The successful candidate should hold a PhD in neurophysiology or neurobiology, coupled with a strong research track record in synapse physiology. Expertise in electrophysiology (specifically whole cell patch clamp recording) is a priority but candidates with significant experience of molecular biology approaches may be considered. This post will be offered on a full time, fixed-term contract to the 31 January 2021. The selection process will include a panel interview and a presentation.
