Positions available in Byun Laboratory

Immunology Institute, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York City

 

 

Two positions are available in the Genetics of Immune Dysregulation Laboratory headed by Minji Byun, PhD, which will relocate to Immunology Institute of Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City in 2017.

 

Our laboratory explores the contribution of human genetic (both germline and somatic) variants in rare autoimmune diseases, autoinflammatory diseases, and immunodeficiency syndromes. Candidate causal variants identified by whole exome or genome sequencing of patients are validated through functional studies in cellular and animal models.

 

The first position is to be filled by a candidate who will lead functional studies of recently identified disease-associated genetic variants. For this position, we are looking for an applicant with PhD in Immunology and strong record of scientific productivity.

 

The second position is to be filled by a candidate who will lead an effort to identify novel causal gene variants by in silico analysis. We are looking for an applicant interested in working with human whole genome sequencing data. Master’s or doctoral degree in genetics/genomics/bioinformatics is preferred but not required.

 

We are looking for hard-working, enthusiastic scientists who will be comfortable working in a fast-paced new lab environment. Candidates must have good communication and interpersonal skills.
