Department Information: Department of Genomic Sciences and Systems Biology, Cleveland Clinic Research, Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

Position Title: Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Position Summary: The Department of Genomic Sciences and Systems Biology at Cleveland Clinic Research is seeking a highly motivated and creative Postdoctoral Research Fellow with a strong quantitative background in bioinformatics, computational biology, systems biology, statistics, biostatistics, computer science, or a related field. The successful candidate will join an active, collaborative, and intellectually vibrant research team led by Dr. Ming Hu. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge single-cell genomics research funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The postdoctoral fellow will develop and apply statistical methods and computational tools to study chromatin spatial organization at single-cell resolution, with the goal of understanding its roles in gene regulation and disease etiology in a cell-type-specific manner. Representative work from the Hu lab includes Song et al, Nature, 2020, Yu et al, Nature Methods, 2021, Barajas-Mora et al, Nature Immunology, 2022, Patta et al, Nature, 2024. This position also offers rich opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration with investigators involved in major national and international genomics initiatives, including the 4D Nucleome Program, 1000 Genomes Project, Roadmap Epigenomics, ENCODE, Impact of Genomic Variation on Function (IGVF), BRAIN Initiative, Human Pangenome Project, and the Alzheimer’s Disease Sequencing Project (ADSP). Dr. Hu is committed to mentoring postdoctoral fellows in a highly supportive and dynamic research environment, with the goal of helping them grow into independent scientists and future leaders in the field.

Duties & Responsibilities: The postdoctoral fellow will:

  • Develop novel statistical and computational methods for analyzing high-dimensional genomics data
  • Apply computational approaches to study 3D genome organization at single-cell resolution
  • Integrate multi-omics data to investigate gene regulation and disease mechanisms
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of computational scientists, biologists, and clinicians
  • Prepare manuscripts, present research findings, and contribute to grant-related activities

Position Qualifications
Applicants should have:

  • A Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Systems Biology, Statistics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline
  • Strong training in statistical modeling, computational method development, and scientific programming
  • Proficiency in R and scripting languages such as Python or Perl in Unix/Linux environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Background knowledge in biology, genetics, or genomics
  • Experience with artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) methods
  • Interest in developing innovative computational approaches for large-scale biological datasets

Salary: Salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Benefits: Benefits will be provided in accordance with standard Cleveland Clinic postdoctoral policies.

Application Instructions
